Things to do on Bedford Campus
Mon 28 November, 2022Here at the ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ, our campuses have lots of things for students to see and get involved in – from state-of-the-art facilities to chill out study areas.
While Bedford town centre is just a stone’s throw away from campus with a host of shops and places to eat, the Bedford campus is home to lots of open green spaces making it the perfect place to clear your head and gather your thoughts.
Visit the Gateway Building
Inside the Gateway Building, located at the entrance of the Bedford campus, you will find lots of different things to see and do – including the main reception, student information desk, lecture theatres and a range of study spaces.
The Gateway is also home to a number of the University’s sustainable and low carbon technologies, such as rainwater harvesting.
If you fancy settling down for a bit of peace and quiet, you will also find a Costa Coffee perfect for students & staff to grab drinks and snacks on the go.
Check out the Campus Centre
The Bedford Campus Centre is where you will find lots of exciting facilities, including both of the campus Theatres and the main campus café.
In the surrounding buildings you can check out our Physical Education and Sport Science Centre, with the impressive facilities used to train athletes for the 2012 Olympic Games.
The area is also home to four fabulous dance studios, campus gyms, a four-storey campus library housing thousands of books, and our social space where you can get involved in activities such as quiz nights and live music.
Get active with state-of-the-art Sport Science Labs
The Bedford campus is the hub for the School of Sport Science and Physical Activity, with specialist labs designed to give students a taste of a real-life working environment.
The labs give students the opportunity to develop their research skills with everything from exploring the biology of an elite athlete to assessing human health risk using the state-of-the-art technology.
Grab a book from the library
If you’re looking for a quiet place to study, look no further than the . Set over four storeys, students have access to more than 300,000 books to help with their learning and just developing their general curiosity.
Each floor has PCs for student use and they are fully equipped with a range of applications for students to get the most out of their course.
Alongside all of this, there are a number of group-work areas and presentation-practice rooms for students to work on their projects. However, if you prefer solo work there is also a dedicated silent study floor to ensure you won’t be disturbed while working on that important essay.
Swing by the sports halls
There is a large sports hall located on the Bedford campus, perfect for students from the School of Sport Science and Physical Activity to practice and train their skills.
As well as the sports hall, the campus is surrounded by extensive sports field and a multi-use games area that give students the opportunity to get some fresh air and physical exercise.
