Our Beds SU Exec team got creative in the kitchen and went head-to-head in a budget cooking competition judged by the Vice Chancellor, Rebecca Bunting.

The challenge was to cook an entire meal for just £5 - this included all ingredients, spices and the teams brought their own utensils to make their own delicious creations.

Students and residents of Fitzroy Court cheered on the teams and enjoyed the evening whilst waiting for the verdict on who won the competition.

Laura, Beds SU Co President cooked a chickpea and carrot curry with pilau and white basmati rice, plus naan bread.

Our other Beds SU Co President, Quadri put a Nigerian twist on traditional spaghetti by adding some spice with Scotch bonnets.

Ryan, Co-Vice President cooked a tasteful and healthy vegetable rice.

Lastly, Co-Vice President, Tabitha cooked some sweet potatoes, but time ran out and she was unfortunately unable to finish.

The meal that won and the winner of the competition was Laura and her chickpea and carrot curry which cost only £3.42!

The team had a lot of fun and were able to demonstrate that you can cook delicious, decent size meals on a budget with little time and planning.

Congratulations again to our Beds SU team!
