Black people have always been at the forefront of social justice movements, fighting against oppression and paving the way for change. However, despite their countless contributions to society have too often been overlooked or forgotten. The theme of this year’s Black History Month, ‘Reclaiming Narratives’, is all about taking ownership of the stories that define Black culture, contributions, and identity. Take a look at our inspirational student, staff, and alumni case studies below, or for more information about BHM24’s campaign visit
Here at the ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ, we have built on our own campaign –ÌýProud To Be Black. We have invited our Black students, staff and alumni to share what makes them proud, what their heritage and culture means to them, and how allies can support their Black peers, learn more and help instigate societal change.
Through our case studies, events and activities taking place duringÌýBlack History Month 2024, we aim to celebrate and show support to Bedfordshire’s diverse student and staff community. As well as remembering the contributions and achievements of Black people throughout history. Black Britons at the ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ and across the UK continue to make history in their own ways every day, which makes us incredibly proud.
