University Law Graduate runs Dragon's Den event for local pupils

In collaboration with the 亚色视频, Alumni, Usamah Himdy held a local Dragon鈥檚 Den style event for local youth at the on Monday 15 April.

The event which was an initiative put forward by Youth Network, welcomed young aspiring entrepreneurs who pitched their ideas to five 鈥楧ragons鈥 from local businesses including, Clearhead Media, Active Luton, The Mall and Benedict鈥檚 Hair Salon.

Successful participants received a cash investment of fifty pounds towards their individual ideas, while two of the teams were offered a day鈥檚 experience at global content agency, Clearhead Media.

Director of Youth Network, Usamah Himdy said: 鈥淥ne of the aims behind this is to get the youth to realise and unleash their potential and what that does is, it gets them motivated and it gives them some sort of direction.鈥

鈥淚 came up with this idea because I鈥檓 passionate about investing in Luton鈥檚 young people. It鈥檚 all about changing society, one step at a time.

I wanted to hold the event at the 亚色视频 to provide the young entrepreneurs with exposure to the Higher Education setting. I believe what you can get out of University is not limited to just a degree. I can confidently say I walked out of the 亚色视频 with much more.鈥

The objective behind the event was to support young people in Luton and help increase their employability and business skills. Young people, their friends and families as well as representatives from various organisations and schools attended the event which was coordinated by youth ambassadors.
