The ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ’s award-winning community radio station RadioLaB 97.1FM has launched a new podcast to help anyone interested in creating exciting radio content.

The podcast, created by Radio LaB Coordinator Terry Lee, offers a platform for those already working in the broadcasting industry to discuss their careers and give guidance to anyone looking to follow in their footsteps.

Guests so far have included award-winning podcast creator Eva Krysiak, producer of BBC Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine show Tim Johns and Emma Jones from Absolute Radio’s Breakfast Show.

Eva, whose podcast Everything Else received a British Podcast Award, said: “I wanted to make students aware that it’s the younger generation that now have the edge over traditional and older journalists. Be bold, identify what stirs and moves you and find a way to communicate it in a new and exciting way. Your time is now!”

Tim said: “I fondly remember my time in student radio, so I was happy to help out with the Fantastic Noise podcast. Making radio is a skill worth learning and one effective way to teach it is through listening.”

Terry said: “At the ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ we have been making live radio for over 20 years. But thanks to the rise of downloadable podcasts, lots of people are now consuming their audio in pre-recorded form.

“Fantastic Noise is our attempt at combining the two, a podcast about making radio and listening experience for those who want to find out more about creating good audio. The series will also feed into our brand new Radio & Audio BA Degree.”

Radio LaB, which is based at the Luton campus, often makes it onto the shortlist of national radio awards, including the I Love Student Radio Awards and Community Radio Awards.
