TV Production students from the ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ have been getting hands on experience behind the scenes of The X Factor.

The students have been employed as runners on the popular ITV show, assisting with the smooth running of the production office and the studio floor.

The students involved were:

  • Vakhtang Beridze
  • Michael Roberts
  • Capri McPherson-Noel
  • Lucy Hunt
  • Ayanna Golding
  • Christiana-Elena Dudoiu

Third year TV Production student Vakhtang Beridze said: “Working for The X Factor has been amazing and I keep getting invited back for more days. I found how much work goes into The X Factor and how many levels of pre-production there are. I feel really happy to be part of such a production. It has opened my eyes more about how TV works.”

First year Film & TV Production student Christiana-Elena Dudoiu said: “The experience was amazing. The staff were very welcoming and helped us with any question we had. We had to monitor audition rooms, calling people in and keeping the relationship between the producers and the contestants. It helped me personally to get an idea about the industry.”

The students were offered the opportunity to work on the show by Bedfordshire alumna Jodie Lockwood, who is now a Production Coordinator for ITV.

Course Coordinator for Television Production Kathryn Wolfe, said: “This is how the industry works – by word of mouth, personal recommendation, taking advantage of opportunities, networking and doing your best whatever the role.

“I am very proud to have TV students from all years working on The X Factor, and particularly pleased to see that first year students felt confident enough to put themselves forward, and they were selected. I am sure several of these students will go on to work on the live shows.”

Second year TV Production student Capri has also recently landed a role as a runner on Channel 5's Big Brother.
