The International Athletic Stadium in Bedford saw 60 亚色视频 students stage the 2016 County Schools鈥 Combined Events Championships. (Friday 8 May).

The event, which saw 20 local schools and 179 athletes competing, was organised on behalf of Bedfordshire & Luton Schools鈥 Athletic Association. Bedfordshire students on the Physical Education (with QTS) and PGCE in Secondary Physical Education  were on hand recording results, officiating, organising the athletes, and performing behind the scenes tasks like calculating the all important results.

Bedford Girls School took both the Junior and Inter Girls titles, with Holywell Academy winning the Junior Boys competition and Sharnbrook Upper topping the table for the Inter Boys.

Senior Lecturer in Physical Education at the University, Mark Bowler, who managed the event, explained about the value of this experience in creating the PE teachers of the future: 鈥淭he event really showcases the talents and skills that our students learn on the course at Bedfordshire.

鈥淭he event gives them not only the chance to put practical and theory skills into practice, but to also meet and network with their potential future colleagues.

鈥淥n the day, they really stepped up to the mark and were professional, competent, but above all enthusiastic and I think that shows in the comments that we got from the schools at the end of the event.鈥

PGCE Secondary Physical Education student Rickey Shah added: 鈥淭here鈥檚 a lot of things that happen over the summer, so the more experience that you get at things like this, the more equipped you are to lead events when you go on to employment in schools.鈥
