Cyber stalking expert warns against bullying online

ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ cyber stalking and harassment expert, Dr Emma Short has said those ignoring cyber bullying are adding to the issue – following new figures that a record number of people were prosecuted in England and Wales last year for harassment and stalking.
In , the Senior Lecturer of Counselling Psychology – who is the Co-director of The National Centre for Cyberstalking Research at the University – spoke about the commonalities associated with cyber bullying and cyber abuse.
Today’s (CPS) are the first since a new legislation was introduced to make stalking a specific offence.
They show that 743 cases were brought to court – cases which may not have been charged under previous law.
Dr Short, who also specialises in phone behaviours, told Dragana Brown at the Huffington Post that a cyber bully usually consists of someone who is persistently abusing someone for around four weeks.
