A free course for budding student and staff entrepreneurs from the ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ, as well as the general public, is to start after Christmas.

The B-Innovative scheme, coordinated by the University’s Innovation and Enterprise Service, runs for ten weeks from January 20 and is open to anyone with a business idea that has the potential for growth. In particular, the course is aimed at students and at improving the student experience.

Each weekly session will include the support of an industry professional, with workshops intended to give participants the knowledge, skills and confidence to make their business idea a reality. Sessions will be interactive, with lots of opportunities to discuss ideas confidentially.

In addition, participants will work towards building a business plan in preparation for a pitch at the end of the course. The winning pitcher will receive £1,000 towards the formation of their business.

An information event took place earlier this week (December 9), attended by over 50 willing applicants. Former ÑÇÉ«ÊÓƵ student Gavin O'Brien, now a successful entrepreneur and partner of a digital creative agency in Luton, spoke at the evening.

Places are limited and the deadline for entry proposals is 7 January 2015.
