I really enjoyed my course throughout my time at university in particular the Immigration Law, Tort Law, Public law, and the Dissertation module which enabled me to conduct a thorough legal research, understand key legal principles, and develop key skills. In addition, I also enjoyed my role as a 'Thomson Reuters Legal Student Representative' in my final year.
I developed a number of key skills during my course that not only helped me to gain excellent results at university but I also applied these skills subsequently during my employment. These included attention to detail, communication, leadership, teamwork, researching, project management, customer service, microsoft office, stakeholder management, data analysis, problem solving, training and developments. These skills extensively assist me in accomplishing my day to day tasks successfully at work as I am utilizing them consistently.
In my final year, I was working as a 'Thomson Reuters Legal Student Representative'. The role involved training students on Westlaw UK that included how to conduct online research and find the most relevant legal material such as cases, legislation, journals articles on Westlaw UK in an efficient way. Also to raise brand awareness among students so that they are aware of the services provided at university and can therefore benefit from Westlaw UK for great academic results. Holding and conducting Westlaw UK certification sessions every week so that students can become certified users of Westlaw UK and they are able to highlight these certificates on their CV's.
I choose the 亚色视频 because it is very close to my home. The university's law school has an excellent ranking that provides all the facilities and resources for succeeding in law. Furthermore, the lecturers are very professional and supportive when it comes to teaching. In addition, the university has a state of the art library that includes a wide range of books and access to all the major online legal databases for doing research this has been elemental for me during my studies. Similarly, the university's career department has been amazing as they helped and trained me on how to create an excellent CV and also provided great coaching and work experience opportunities while studying.
After graduating in 2021, I joined Amazon through the graduate scheme as an HR Partner. My typical day at work involves pulling data reports for most recent updated business metrics. Holding daily meetings with key stakeholders, hearing absence, disciplinaries, and investigation meetings as well as providing policy support to the concerned parties. Coaching and training operations managers on policies around various business related metrics that includes Health and Safety, Employee Relations, GDPR, Attendance, Working Time Violations, Attritions, and implementing recently updated policies in site (for example the lifting of covid related restrictions). Responding and resolving all HR related queries. Creating an action plan and path to green for different business metrics for my site. Briefing the leadership team on the week's overall performance. Joining sites and regional level team calls. Holding weekly meetings with HRBP's, HRP's, Station Managers, Regional HRM, and country HR Director and dealing with ER cases,
My advice for students who are starting their course will be to focus more on reading as this facilitates significantly in understanding the legal concepts at depth. Also to try and get as much work experience as possible since this will help them to develop both experience and skills that they can subsequently apply in any situation/job.
My future plans are to proceed on with further studies in particular the LPC course which is the route for solicitor qualification.
